A downloadable depthcrawl setting

Buy Now$8.00 USD or more

Xeric Sands is a desert depthcrawl in the style of Emmy Allen's the Gardens of Ynn and the Stygian Library. It is statted for Into the Odd and similar "new school renaissance" (NSR) adventure games, but should be functional with other dnd-ish systems. It is somewhere between fantasy and science-fantasy, and can be easily tilted either way.

This project is not in active development! I have a portion of the encounters completed and intend to post them soon, but won't be increasing the price until I resume development.

What's in it?

So far it includes:

  • 35 Locations
  • 35 Details
  • in plain text and tables, but with bookmarks.

Next up are ~45 desert critters and folks to encounter.

Can I see a preview?

The first pages of each section are added as a sample below. It shows the current formatting style.

You can also find the content for free on my mastodon and on my blog, but the posts won't receive further editing (nor are they collected in order). This project is part of a daily posting practice, similar to "Dungeon23."

How is this project coming along? I noticed some of the proposed deadlines have come and gone. I think it is super cool so far, looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Howdy, I ended up getting a 9-5 and don't have time to work on this much :/

I've been thinking about just adding in the encounters I've finished and leaving it at $8 until I have more time. Maybe next weekend I'll post.

Hey, totally understandable. It looks like the kind of project you can always come back to, whenever that may be. Or not. I think you've got a good thing going, though, so I look forward to any additions, if they're in the cards. Thanks.

Fascinated by the fact that one of the primary inspirations is A Princess of Mars.

I'd be tempted to run this with Eco-Mofos!
